ABC Announces New General Counsel
The ABC’s Chief Financial Officer Louise Higgins has announced the appointment of Connie Carnabuci as ABC General Counsel. Ms Carnabuci is a highly respected international lawyer with a deep knowledge of digital media and the communications sector.
“Connie Carnabuci is well-equipped to advise the ABC Board and Leadership Team on risk and strategy as we progress our transformation agenda,” Louise Higgins said. “Her expertise is in commercial, technology and innovation law. She has a wealth of experience in the commercial IP/telecommunications space and is fully across digital platforms and content.”
Ms Carnabuci is returning to the workforce after a break from her previous role as a senior partner for the global law firm, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, based in Hong Kong. She worked for Freshfields for 11 years and before that was a partner with Mallesons Stephen Jacques (now known as King and Wood Mallesons), also based in Hong Kong.
Ms Carnabuci will commence on the 31st of July with responsibility for the ABC Legal Team. Georgina Waite will be acting General Counsel in the interim.
The ABC will farewell departing General Counsel Rob Simpson this week after a decade of service at the ABC.
“I would like to take this opportunity to again thank Rob for his outstanding service to the ABC as General Counsel,” Louise Higgins said. “He is highly respected inside the ABC and outside for his professionalism, dedication and grace. He leaves ABC Legal well placed for Connie’s arrival.”
