DSG Launches IP-Based TV Studio Control System

Danmon Systems Group (DSG) has launched a new IP-based television studio control system.

“The system enables television broadcasters to establish highly efficient regional contribution studios without requiring local operational staff to supervise and operate them,” explains DSG Deputy Managing Director Peter Thomsen. “The result is greater production flexibility without sending operating costs through the roof. Special attention has been made in the design to ensure completely foolproof local operation. Based on integrated pan-tilt-zoom HD/SD cameras, the system can be driven from a network headquarters’ standard internet browser. The only local user-adjustable element of the entire regional studio is the earpiece volume level.”

Web-based control delivers maximum operational flexibility between different control rooms or galleries without requiring installation of additional hardware. High sound quality is achieved by using very high-grade microphones and ultra-low-noise pre-amplifiers plus an audio delay unit to maintain lip sync. The guest sees the host on a dedicated monitor just below the camera. The background monitor is driven via live video from the broadcaster or via an attached remote controlled clip-player.

The system has a very wide range of applications both in traditional news broadcasting and in the many programme genres that require live input from remote participants. The system is a natural progression in a world where broadcasters increasingly depend on IP solutions for file delivery, and remote playout control.
