MEDIAGENIX appoints Filip Descamps as CEO, Jef Vandecruys as MD of EMEA

Filip Descamps succeeds Dirk Debraekeleer as the new CEO of the Belgian company MEDIAGENIX, a company that has grown into a global player in management systems for media content in just a few years. In addition, Jef Vandecruys has also joined the ranks as Managing Director of the EMEA region. Earlier this year, after establishing presence in Europe and Asia, MEDIAGENIX opened an office in Fort Lauderdale (Florida). The internationalization of its customer base and the increasing diversity of projects have catapulted MEDIAGENIX to the top of tech vendors in the international media world today.

Multifunctional and international experience

The position of Managing Director for the EMEA business unit is being filled by Jef Vandecruys. Jef Vandecruys participated in the launch of Belgacom TV in 2005. He then worked at Anheuser-Busch InBev for seven years as Global Director for Digital Marketing, and with a role in Global Procurement. For the past five years, he held the position of COO at Zappware, a company that specialises in solutions for digital TV services.

At the same time, MEDIAGENIX announced the arrival of a new CEO. Filip Descamps is taking over the global management tasks from Dirk Debraekeleer. To make the transition as smooth as possible, Descamps and Debraekeleer will work closely together during the first months. Filip Descamps has worked at Microsoft for 16 years, where he gained experience particularly in sales and sales management, and holding a number of international management positions. He has also worked in various positions for a system integrator.

Dirk Debraekeleer regards Filip Descamps and Jef Vandecruys as the ideal candidates to keep the company on course for further growth, thanks to their broad multifunctional and international experience. “During the transition period, I shall act as co-CEO, and will then assume the role of Executive Chairman of the Board. In that capacity, I will focus on the strategy to strengthen the position of MEDIAGENIX as a global tech vendor and world player in a constantly changing media landscape, including with regard to the development of strategic partnerships and customer relations. This will be done in close cooperation with the current Chairman, principal shareholder Bruno Denys, the Board of Directors and the CEO.”

International growth

WHATS’ON is used by more than 100 clients worldwide, including Disney, Viacom, BBC, UKTV, Medialaan, VRT, and RTBF, to manage their content distribution. “Our growth is not just based on the number of clients we have. Our internal growth has been significant in recent years. MEDIAGENIX has already recruited fifty employees to keep pace with our international growth, and our team has doubled in less than five years. The figure now stands at more than 200 employees and a total of 25 nationalities,” said Dirk Debraekeleer.
