New Products From RME
At this year’s Winter NAMM Show RME is introducing the new 12Mic, a digitally controlled 12-channel microphone preamplifier with AD converter unit, MADI and AVB connectivity. Being the first RME microphone preamplifier with Ethernet integration, the 12Mic meets the needs of professional audio users who value highest analogue and digital signal quality with flexible integration into advanced production environments.
Access to the 12 analogue XLR inputs of the 12Mic (four of which are XLR/TRS combo jacks featuring switchable Hi-Z) is provided via the front panel, allowing transparent amplification with up to 75dB gain and an exceptional signal-to-noise ratio of 121.2 dB(A) after AD conversion. The rear panel features coaxial connections for MADI and word clock, ADAT outputs as well as two redundant AVB Ethernet ports for synchronised and prioritised transmission of up to 256 AVB channels each way via the license-free IEEE 802 standards.
At the heart of the 12Mic is the 268 x 282 channel routing matrix, which allows for free distribution of all analogue, digital and network-based formats, making the 12Mic an unparalleled flexible microphone preamplifier for any audio environment. Besides controlling the 12Mic using the integrated front panel display, all operations and signal routing of the 268 x 282 matrix are accessible via a browser-based web interface. For connection to a computer, the 12Mic also features an integrated USB port.
Fully redundant The 12Mic is based on an extensive redundancy concept for MADI and AVB signals. Alongside coaxial MADI inputs and outputs for up to 128 MADI channels, a separate optical MADI port is available, which can be used either for redundancy or, via an optional SFP module for MADI single or multi mode, as an additional, full-fledged MADI I/O. In addition, the 12Mic offers a redundant power supply via the power connector with IEC plug as well as a 12V DC power supply.
Femtoseconds for clocking With the SteadyClock FS, the 12Mic features the latest clock and jitter rejection technology from RME.
RME is also introducing the new AVB Tool, combining a four-channel microphone preamplifier, MADI/AVB converter and routing matrix for analogue, digital and network-based audio signals in a compact 9.5-inch device. With its unique concept of premium analogue mic and line inputs, digital redundancy and future-proof IEEE networking standards, the AVB Tool fills a gap in RME’s portfolio and can be integrated as a highly flexible front-end extension into existing MADI and AVB environments.
With the AVB Tool, users are able to convert the most important analogue signals in studio, live and broadcast environments in maximum quality. The four XLR/TRS combo inputs feature a remotely controllable gain of max. 75dB gain in 1dB steps, +18dBu sensitivity for line-level signals and switchable Hi-Z per channel. Outputs include two analogue line outputs with switchable reference level as well as a stereo headphone output.
Ready for MILAN With up to eight streams for a maximum of 128 channels, the AVB Gigabit ethernet port provides additional routing options. Besides the standard AM824 format, the AVB Tool also supports sending and receiving in the AAF format, making it fully compatible with the new MILAN network protocol.
Femtoseconds for clocking With the SteadyClock FS, the AVB Tool features the latest clock and jitter rejection technology from RME. Based on a femtosecond clock – a femtosecond is the 10-15 times part of a second – SteadyClock FS reduces the intrinsic jitter when converting from and to analogue over all digital formats to a new all-time low.
The new M-1610 Pro 16-channel converter (1U) brings together the performance of the M-32 Pro AD and DA converters in a single unit, offering a multitude of signal integration options to professional studio, live and broadcast users thanks to extensive analogue and digital I/O connections including AVB (Audio Video Bridging) network functionality.
Flexible connectivity across all levels Based on 16 balanced analogue inputs, 8 balanced analogue outputs, 128 MADI channels for both coaxial input and output, plus 32 ADAT optical output channels, the new M-1610 Pro presents itself as one of the most versatile and powerful professional audio converters on the market. Added flexibility is provided by the integrated AVB interface offering two redundant Gigabit Ethernet ports for synchronized and prioritized transmission of up to eight AVB streams with a total of 64 channels. Further I/O options include an additional headphone output on the front panel for user-friendly, high-quality audio monitoring as well as the ability to switch all analogue channels separately between three different line levels (+13/+19/+24 dB).
Femtoseconds for clocking With the SteadyClock FS, the M-1610 Pro features the latest clock and jitter rejection technology from RME. Based on a femtosecond clock – a femtosecond is the 10-15 times part of a second – SteadyClock FS reduces the intrinsic jitter when converting from and to analogue over all digital formats to a new all-time low.
The next step With the M-1610 Pro – as well as the also newly introduced AVB devices 12Mic and AVB Tool – RME again demonstrates its strength of innovation for groundbreaking audio solutions. From Firewire, USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 to MADI, the manufacturer is now setting new development standards in the field of AVB, offering professional audio users sophisticated technologies for highly reliable productions with maximum compatibility and future-proofing.
ADI-2 Pro FS R Black Edition
ADI-2 Pro FS R Black Edition, an updated version of the high-end AD/DA reference converter ADI-2 Pro FS in black color design. Featuring optimised specifications as well as comprehensive IR remote support the ADI-2 Pro FS R Black Edition is the perfect choice for audiophile Hi-Fi users who use the converter as a main interface for music and movie sound reproduction.
The ADI-2 Pro FS R Black Edition is one of the most versatile converters on the market and integrates several devices in a single unit: a high-end AD/DA converter with SteadyClock FS Femto-Clock in professional studio quality, a dual headphone amplifier, a multi-format converter (AES, SPDIF, ADAT) with monitoring capability, a DSD recording and playback converter as well as an AD/DA frontend for audio measurements, mastering and hi-fi applications with up to 768kHz sampling frequency.
Newly improved performance values The ADI-2 Pro FS R Black Edition features the AK4493, the DAC chip of the RME ADI-2 DAC, which significantly reduces the THD and increases the signal-to-noise ratio by 3 dB during digital-to-analogue conversion.
