AACTA Launches $50,000 Reg Grundy Award
The Australian Academy of Cinema Television Arts (AACTA) has launched the Reg Grundy Award which will provide AUD$50,000 in development funds and prize money toward a new unscripted entertainment format idea.
Honouring the work and legacy of Reg Grundy, pioneer of Australian format television, the AACTA Reg Grundy Award has been established with the generosity of, and in partnership with, Reg Grundy’s wife, Mrs Joy Chambers Grundy, Chairman of RG Capital, author and businesswoman.
The Award is the largest prize of its kind worldwide and is open to Australians from all walks of life and across all experience levels who can demonstrate they have an idea that is original, viable and has the all-important entertainment factor.
Inspired by Reg’s achievements, hard work and entrepreneurial spirit, the AACTA Reg Grundy Award supports the next generation of ideas and creatives.
“The AACTA Reg Grundy Award has been created to help discover budding entrepreneurs of Australian entertainment in Reg Grundy’s name,”
said Mrs Joy Chambers Grundy
One of Australia’s most creative and successful entertainment minds, Reg Grundy put Aussie TV on the map, with his format adaptations often becoming more popular than the originals locally and around the world. His success in creating and adapting entertainment formats spans decades and includes SALE OF THE CENTURY, WHEEL OF FORTUNE, FAMILY FEUD and THE PRICE IS RIGHT, each with its own added Grundy magic. His drama successes included NEIGHBOURS, which has become the longest-running drama series in Australian television, and a launching pad for many careers.
The AACTA Reg Grundy Award is a chance for anyone to put forward a new idea for an unscripted entertainment program, with the chance to win $50,000 in prize money and development funds, and the opportunity to bring the idea to fruition. Simply get your idea down on one page and enter it.
