Lingo Pictures’ ‘the Secrets She Keeps’ Secures Strong Sales

The Secrets She Keeps, the new six-part series adapted by Lingo Pictures
from author Michael Robotham’s best-selling novel of the same name, has
been acquired by the BBC and Sundance Now.

The 6x one-hour series, which will screen on Network 10 in Australia, has also sold to France, New Zealand,
Sweden, Finland, Poland, Russia, CIS, The Baltics and Israel, with
further sales to be announced in the lead up to broadcast.

Written by Sarah Walker and Jonathan Gavin, directed by Catherine Millar
and Jennifer Leacey and produced by Lingo Pictures’ Helen Bowden and by
Paul Watters, this contemporary thriller stars Laura Carmichael
(Downton Abbey, Marcella, The Spanish Princess) as Agatha Fyfle, Jessica
de Gouw (The Crown, Vienna Blood, The Hunting) as Meghan Shaughnessy
and Michael Dorman (For All Mankind, Patriot, The Invisible Man) as Jack
Shaughnessy.

DCD Rights is handling international sales. Executive Producers are
Jason Stephens and Network 10’s Rick Maier. Lingo Pictures is a leading
Australian independent production company, whose recent projects include
the comedy drama Upright, starring Tim Minchin, which was broadcast on
Foxtel and in the UK to acclaim late last year, and Lambs of God, which
won a record number of AACTA (Australian Academy) Awards in 2019.

The Secrets She Keeps is a Lingo Pictures production for Network 10 with
major production investment from Screen Australia in association with
Network 10. Finance with support from Screen NSW.

Screen Australia CEO Graeme Mason said: “For The Secret She Keeps to
sell so well before the series has aired is a real coup for Lingo
Pictures. The script adapted from Michael Robotham’s best-selling novel
is gripping and universally appealing, and Lingo have cleverly crafted a
series I’m confident will resonate with audiences here in Australia and
all over the world.”

Based loosely on true events, The Secrets She Keeps is the story of
Agatha Fyfle and Megan Shaughnessy. Everyone has an idea of what their
‘perfect’ life is. For Agatha, it’s Meghan’s. These two women from
vastly different walks of life hold one thing in common – explosive
secrets that could destroy everything they hold dear. Both will risk
everything to conceal the truth, but their worlds are about to collide
in one shocking act that cannot be undone.

Lingo Pictures’ Helen Bowden said: “Michael’s book is impossible to put
down and we’re very happy to have made something that buyers are finding
impossible to switch off. We were always confident that this story
would appeal to audiences around the world but it’s thrilling to see the
series selling like hot cakes, especially to homes as prestigious as
the BBC and Sundance Now.”

Michael Robotham is one of Australia’s most successful authors. His
psychological thrillers have been translated into 25 languages and
published in more than 50 countries.
