HK Regulator Extends Mobile Spectrum Deadline

Hong Kong’s Office of the Communications (OFCA) has announced that in response to requests from the industry, the deadline for submission of applications for assignment of spectrum in the 26 GHz and 28 GHz bands for provision of large scale public mobile services has been extended by four weeks from the original deadline of 25 January 2019 to 22 February 2019.

Application, in triplicate, should reach OFCA no later than 5:30 pm on 22 February 2019. An electronic copy should also be provided.

The extension follows notification from 21Vianet Mobile that it would cease the provision of its mobile services with effect from 1 February 2019. 21Vianet Mobile has undertaken to help customers port their mobile numbers to other service providers for a period of three months.
