Aussie Indie-Rocker Courtney Barnett Counts on Sennheiser
Tasmanian singer-songwriter, Courtney Barnett, has established herself as one of the driving forces behind the Australian music scene. Courtney has recently been touring Australia, North America and Europe supporting her new album, Tell Me How You Really Feel, which this week won the ARIA award for Best Rock Album. For the tour, she has relied on an array of Sennheiser equipment for her performances.
Preparing for Courtney’s tour, the team was looking for equipment to elevate the fierce performances that have seen her dominate the 2018 ARIA awards nominations. The goal was to lift the game for bigger theatres, audiences and festival stages and the team knew they could rely on the reputation of Sennheiser equipment to do so.
Since signing the partnership in April this year, Courtney has been using an array of Sennheiser equipment. For vocal’s, Courtney has been using the MD 431, and they have also recently taken on two new e906 instrument mics and two MKE 600’s for audience mics. The other key piece of equipment was the in-ear monitors, with Courtney and her crew deciding to upgrade to the 2000 series IEMs.
Courtney’s manager, Nick O’Byrne, said, “Courtney’s front of house sound is the best it has ever been. Meanwhile, the monitoring system has markedly changed the way the band performs and sings. The ability to hear detailed vocal parts amongst some very loud guitars and a ferocious rhythm section has made for better vocal performances. We’re experiencing less vocal fatigue on the road too.”
Adam Karolewski, Product Manager for Pro Audio Solutions from Sennheiser said, “Her combination of original songwriting and lyricism with a swaggering energy on stage has made Courtney a one-of-a-kind performer, and Sennheiser is extremely proud to have her on board. We can’t wait to see what she does next.”
