Public Broadcasting Inquiry
The Australian Government has appointed an expert panel to investigate whether the ABC and SBS are operating in a manner consistent with the Government’s competitive neutrality principles.
The terms of reference for the inquiry are broad and raise questions about the role of the ABC, its presence in the digital sphere and its impact on Australia’s commercial media sector.
The ABC is confident that it complies with the Government’s competitive neutrality principles in all its activities and we have created a fact pack for interested members of the public outlining the role of independent public broadcasting in a mixed public/private media market.
The ABC is preparing a submission for the inquiry, which be published here before submissions close on the 22nd of June.
