Media Technology Pacific Returns to New Zealand – August 2018
Media Technology Pacific has confirmed that the third biannual event will be held on 1st and 2nd of August, at the Pullman Hotel in Auckland.
MTP is the Pacific region’s premiere conference focusing on media technologies in the connected world. The third conference will continue exploring themes developed in the first two events, including the ongoing convergence of Broadcasting and Digital Media and the evolution of technologies, workflows, and best practices for the creation and delivery of professional audiovisual content.
Also announced is that Kordia and Gencom Technology will act as lead sponsors for the event. “Gencom has been involved with MTP since its inception in 2014, and we are pleased to continue our involvement with this unique event,” said David Barnard, Managing Director of Gencom Technology. Returning to the show for 2018 will be Conference Chair Gerry Smith, who has guided past shows with a unique combination of experience in traditional Broadcasting and understanding of how technology is shaping the future of Media.
Past events have included presentations from industry leaders from around the world, and covered themes ranging from reinventing the TV experience in a connected world, to the future of satellite and terrestrial broadcasting. Highlights of previous shows have included an inside look at how Spark Digital Ventures built the Lightbox OTT video, the technical planning and implementation of Checkpoint with John Campbell, New Zealand’s first truly cross-media live news program, a frank look at the challenges facing traditional media companies from NZ Herald columnist John Drinnan, and many more. The 2018 show will continue these themes and look at new developments including the growth of IP video and cloud infrastructure in broadcast operations as well as the emergence of new content categories such as eSports.
Speakers confirmed thus far include Duane Mutu of Lets Play Live Media, one of the leading eSports experts in the Pacific region, and Marc Segar, Director of Technical Services for NEP Australia. Additional speakers will be announced in the coming weeks.

An Early Bird discount rate of $450 is in effect until Friday the 15th of June, after which the normal rate of $500 will apply.
