Jungle Ventures Awarded VC Deal of the Year
Singapore-based venture capital firm, Jungle Ventures, has been awarded VC Deal of the Year by the Singapore Venture Capital and Private Equity Association (SVCA). Jungle Ventures was recognised for its investment into iflix. The award ceremony was held in conjunction with SVCA’s Silver Jubilee Gala Dinner last evening at the Shangri-La Hotel Singapore.
“It is a great honour to be recognised by the SVCA for this investment, and we are thrilled to receive this award,” said David Gowdey, Managing Partner at Jungle Ventures. “We have been involved with iflix since its inception and have thoroughly enjoyed working with the visionary team, which is truly world class. Iflix is the perfect embodiment of Southeast Asia’s unique and vibrant tech ecosystem, the multitude of opportunities that the region offers, and the capability of developing globally scalable businesses.”
“Having key partners like Jungle Ventures with their exceptional strategic intelligence and depth has been integral to our success to date,” said Mark Britt, Co-Founder and Group CEO for iflix. “David and Jungle have been with iflix from the very beginning and are an essential part of our leadership and advisory team, which has taken the business from an unknown brand launching in two countries in 2015, to currently 23 markets worldwide, as well as Southeast Asia’s leading entertainment service and the fastest growing entertainment brand in the Middle East and Africa just two years later. This is only the beginning.”
The award recognises best Venture Capital and Private Equity firms who have made successful strategic investments and exits in the past year. The 2017 judging panel included industry thought-leaders from Pavilion Capital, Fullerton Fund Management Company, Morgan Stanley Alternative Investment Partners, Axiom Asia Private Capital, and PricewaterhouseCoopers.
Jungle Ventures invested in iflix’s initial financing round in April 2015, as well as its most recent round, which closed in August 2017. iFlix has raised a total of US$230 million from investors such as News Corp (via Sky), Liberty Media, Hearst, Emtek and PLDT.
