Jampro Celebrates 140th Broadband UHF DVB-T2 Site
Jampro Antennas is celebrating the commissioning of the 140th Broadband UHF DVB-T2 site of the largest broadcast single frequency network serving Singapore.
Singapore being one of the most technologically advanced countries in the world, where high tech trends have often been established, required increases in building signal levels for both fixed receivers and handsets.
Jampro was selected two years ago to supply broadband UHF systems for their digital conversation of the city state, and to assist with the design of a broadcast DVB-T2 SFN. The dense high-rise buildings and population make coverage from a single site, with adequate in-building signal levels very difficult. As a result, a SFN was designed and has been successfully implemented with now more than 140 sites in place and more to be added in the future. The SFM utilises Jampro JUVD broadband UHF panels and combines four to seven RF TV Channels at each site.
Aaron Callahan, Director of Engineering for Jampro, was quoted as saying, “The entire Jampro team is very proud to be selected for this Frame Agreement, as the supplier for such an important SFN, in such a trend setting country. We have seen over the years, how technology has evolved and in almost all cases we see the importance of Singapore and its citizens in the introduction and adoption of such advanced technologies well ahead of other countries. We see this SFN as being a proto-type for broadcast SFN’s and with 140+ sites, we believe it is likely the largest broadcast SFN in use in the world.”
